The human brain has, on average, 85,000 thoughts a day. That's right, 85,000. The majority of these thoughts are useless. Buddhists call it "the monkey mind." Meditation has been scientifically proven to improve inner peace, self-awareness, mental functioning, and helps you detach from thoughts and impulses. In the case of SUD (Substance Use Disorder) meditation can prevent relapse. It lays a positive effect and reduces the levels of stress and anxiety which is of the utmost importance in recovery.
